Join Us in Spreading Love and Making a Difference

KALAUMAN

(meaning “from where you can draw hope”) is a non-profit Christian children organization jointly sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Dumaguete City, Silliman University Church, and the YWCA-Dumaguete Chapter.

It started as a day care program for urban poor children from Looc and other nearby depressed communities in Dumaguete City. Initiated by the late Dr. Elena O. Maquiso, who was the Chairperson of the Mission Committee of Silliman University Church, the Project was officially established in 1981.

The year 2000 was the rebirth and renewal of Kalauman’s partnership with the Global Ministries, USA through the great effort of Ms. Linda Lawrence and Ms. Jeni Rose Pia-Chapman of the Child Sponsorship Program. Until now, the integrated programs and services of Kalauman is supported by local sponsors and by the Global Ministries, who is committed to providing aid to deserving children by providing a practical way for individuals and churches to extend a helping hand. At present, Kalauman is supporting children and youth, all are enrolled in different government and private schools/universities in Dumaguete City.
